Milestone Theatre Company is Pasadena's premiere group of independent artists. We gather together to produce multi-media events that showcase the unseen talents our community would otherwise never experience. Not only do we create presentations that showcase our talents, but we do so with the purpose of sparking the same creative fires in our audiences that we as a company ignite together.
We started as a group of young artists who wanted a place to play, rehearse, and perform with intentions of honing our skills using the feedback of supportive peers. In the fall of 2007, Theater Arts students at Pasadena City College were frustrated with a collective issue: how do we use our skills to obtain careers once our terms in college were over?
Once we discovered our potentials as individual artists, we were still lacking genuine support from the professional fields of the Arts to progress our careers; the support just doesn't exist. Many of us wanted a place to "act out," but couldn't find it within our community - a community which indirectly prohibits amateur artists from performing in professional arenas.
One afternoon, two friends met at a local coffee shop and hatched a plan for fellow theater arts students to come together in a creative environment, giving each other the boost we were all desperately seeking.
This was the beginning of The Milestone Theatre Company.
Our goals for members involve inspiring each other, helping ignite the artistic flame, learning how to keep the fire lit, and making our creative fires grow ramped. We give each other the creative boosts we all seek so we can prepare for successful careers in all aspects of the Arts. We want artists to reflect back on Milestone as a "milestone" in their creative lives.
Milestone's goal in our community is to inspire thought and social awareness in our audiences. We are here to inform the town of the undiscovered talents yet to be acknowledged. And, we do all of this with the purpose of giving back to the community.
Today, Milestone has grown from a kinship of eight, to dozens of local artists, who found their way out of their respective institutions and into our community. Milestone reaches out to independent artists from all mediums who seek a community dedicated to helping them achieve success in their collective and creative fields.
